'Close Your Small Debts And Build Your Financial Muscle' - Youth Advised As The Department's District Youth-In-Business Crusade Rolled To A Close

The Youth were advised to 'Close your small debts and build your financial muscle', as the month long District focussed Youth-in-Business empowerments program drew to a close after the last two districts of Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Bojanala Platinum also had their share.

In Maquassie Hills Local Municipal, the Council Chamber was packed to capacity during the youth capacity building outreach programme. The program was deliberately created to sharpen young people's business skills and technique and to grow their businesses in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Making his presentation during the session, Mr Sandile Mkono from ABSA, advised young people to conduct themselves in a professional manner to protect their integrity.

According to Mkono, most of young people fail to obtain assistance from financial institutions due to their financial conduct. "Most of you, you open unnecessary bank accounts, clothing accounts and many accounts for no reason. Hence you end up having to abandon them but unfortunately you end up being listed with ICT as a bad payer or highly indebted. Please close your small debts and separate your personal account from your business account" Advised Mkono.
He further urged young entrepreneurs to up-skill themselves by attending training and courses offered by different entities for them to become fully established entrepreneurs.
Mr Modise Gause from the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Supply Chain Management directorate, presented the processes and procedures to apply for government tender and enlist on the system data-base.

This crucial engagement continues to benefit young people across the Province since different stakeholders such as Financial Institutions, State Owned Entities and Local Municipality's LED program get the advantage to share available opportunities for Young entrepreneurs as well as encourage these aspirant business men and women of the future to work hard.

Most of the youth were very much interested in the program as it is for the first time in this democracy that the youth access this important information at their doorsteps and in the remote areas of the province.

"This program is deliberate in its intention to mobilize the Youth who are in the transport sector as entrepreneurs. These would be empowered further by TETA, whereas the NYDA is providing the youth with the necessary information on types of businesses to register for. And these will be assisted to kick-start their business venture through some grants. SEDA has availed assistance to develop business plans for any type of business. On the other hand, the Provincial Tender Board urges Youth entrepreneurs to register their business with the central supplier database (CSD)". Said Mr Tshegofatso Mafifi.

Community Safety and Transport Management Department's RISK Management Directorate too took the opportunity to provide the youth with capacity on how to detect risk in their businesses so that their businesses are insulated of fraud and are able to identify 'the corruptor and the corrupter' easily as well as to be able to indentify scam. But the services of the departments were made clear to these youth entrepreneurs.

Supply Chain Management (SCM) official Mr Gause also alerted them about the 5 pillars of SCM to help them to avoid providing services without order and making unnecessary commitment letter

The program was quite a success.
